Each week GOPAC will spotlight a candidate running for election. This weeks Candidate in the spotlight is South Carolina State Representative Tim Scott.
This December, the newly elected Tim Scott will take his historic seat in the South Carolina House of Representatives. After defeating two other candidates to win the nomination, Scott becomes the first African American Republican to be elected to the house since reconstruction.
As an elected official serving over 13 years in a county office, Tim has faced and met many challenges in government. Never wavering from his beliefs and his commitment to the community, he has proven to be a highly respected and an effective leader for not only Charleston County, but South Carolina as a whole.
Tim is a graduate of Charleston Southern University with a major in Political Science. He is the owner of three small businesses including an insurance agency, a real estate company and a consulting firm. Scott’s approach to those endeavors is similar to how he governs, with fiscal responsibility, strong ethical decision-making, enthusiasm and good old fashioned hard work.
