Each week GOPAC will spotlight a candidate running for election. This week’s candidate is Tom Tiffany of Wisconsin’s 12th Senate District.
In his nearly 20 years of operating a business in Northern Wisconsin, Tom Tiffany has seen Wisconsin’s tax and regulatory policies first hand. While it is an excellent place to live and raise a family, he feels that adjustments need to be made at the state level to make it a better place to operate, expand, or create a business. He’s seen the impact of tax and regulatory policy in Wisconsin on small businesses, both positive and negative. Tom believes that if Wisconsin were more moderate in taxation and regulation, it would create a stronger business climate in the state.
Tom is an advocate for fiscal accountability, affordable energy, job creation, and affordable health care. He thinks that smart choices must be made, separating wants from needs. The taxpayers of Wisconsin have made tough decisions with their families’ budgets, and it is time that state government does the same to improve Wisconsin’s economic prosperity. Tom believes that less is more. Less taxation, less regulation and less litigation leads to more - more opportunity, more jobs, and more prosperity. He will work with his legislative colleagues on both sides of the aisle to reach these goals.
Tom and his wife, Chris, live in Hazelhurst with their three daughters. In 1991, Tom and Chris began operating their excursion business, Wisconsin River Cruises, a sightseeing dinner cruise that operates on the Wisconsin River.
Tom is active in the community and involved in various organizations. Tom volunteers his time reading at his children’s school, he is a member of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association, the Tavern League of Wisconsin, and served as a past president of the area chamber of commerce.
