Each week GOPAC will spotlight a candidate running for election. This weeks Candidate in the spotlight is Arizona State Senator Thayer Verschoor. Thayer has brought a breath of fresh air to the Arizona State Senate. Since being elected he has demonstrated his dedication and service to the community in innumerable ways. Arizona is extremely fortunate to have this great statesman in their State Senate.
Thayer has demonstrated leadership experience through his work as chairman of the Transportation Committee, vice-chairman of the Judiciary and Family Services Committees, chairman of the District 30 Republican Committee (now LD22). He has protected the sanctity of life, is an advocate for parental choice in education, has lead the way in obtaining a $500 million tax cut for Arizona citizens and $345 million to accelerate the completion of our freeways. He is a strong supporter of securing our borders.
Thayer has been recognized as a Friend of the Taxpayer by the Arizona Federation of Taxpayers for working to control spending and protect taxpayer dollars. He was awarded Legislator of the Year by the Arizona Police Association for his support of law enforcement, and was also recognized as Legislator of the Year by the Arizona Retailers Association for his support of the business community.
Over the years, Thayer has not only volunteered and provided support for Congressmen J. D. Hayworth and Jeff Flake, Former Congressman Matt Salmon, Judge Tom Freestone, Representatives Eddie Farnsworth, Russell Pearce, Karen Johnson, and Gilbert Councilman Dave Petersen, but he has also had their support for him as well.
