June 1, 2012 – Washington, DC – GOPAC Chairman Frank Donatelli released the following statement today in reaction to news that the U.S. economy added just 69,000 jobs in the month of May:
“Today’s disappointing jobs numbers are a frightening reminder that President Obama is not willing or able to pursue the policies that will allow Americans to create jobs and grow the economy.
“More importantly, they are also a reminder that job creation must be the number one focus of all elected officials, not just the president.
“Voters this year must hold their state and local officials accountable for enacting proven, conservative reform. States with falling income tax rates, decreased spending and fewer regulations, like Wisconsin, Iowa, New Hampshire and Virginia, generally have unemployment rates lower than the 8.2% national average. States on the wrong end of that formula, like California, suffer unsurprisingly from painfully high unemployment.
“Strong pro-growth policies at the state level can help to negate the Obama Administration’s bias against job creation and economic growth.”
