Today, GOPAC announced that its Board of Directors has elected David Avella as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors effective immediately.
Avella previously held the position of GOPAC President. He succeeds Frank Donatelli who has led GOPAC since 2009. Mr. Donatelli will remain active with the organization as a member of the Board of Directors.
“David has been a key part of the remarkable growth that GOPAC has experienced in the last 6 years,” said past Chairman Frank Donatelli. “This is why he was the Board’s unanimous choice to lead the organization as we expand our Called-Up program to elect state lawmakers to federal office as well as extend our efforts to elect and educate a new generation of Republicans at the state level. David is a highly-respected leader in the conservative movement and we are delighted that he has agreed to deepen his commitment to GOPAC.”
The organization also announced that it will it expand its highly successful Called-Up program to support GOPAC-affiliated state lawmakers who run for federal office. This year, GOPAC endorsed Senators-elect Joni Ernst, Thom Tillis, Shelley Moore Capito and Cory Gardner as well as Representatives-elect Barbara Comstock and Barry Loudermilk. For the 2016 cycle, GOPAC will seek to find strong, qualified state lawmakers to run for the U.S. Senate in California, Colorado, Nevada and Washington State while monitoring for opportunities in the U.S. House.
Avella is a frequent guest on national television and radio, including a weekly segment on Fox News’ The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson as well as HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, MSNBC, Fox News Radio, and more. He is also a quoted source for national and local print, video, online and social media platforms. Avella is a requested speaker on current national and state issues, how to communicate effectively, and how to execute winning political campaigns.
