Arlington, Va – GOPAC today announced its endorsement of Teri Hickel in the November 3rd Special Election for Washington State House’s 30th District.
Through the GOPAC Election Fund, Hickel’s campaign committee will receive the maximum allowable state contribution. In addition, GOPAC is investing $10,000 in the Washington State House Republican Leadership PAC to support its efforts to elect Hickel.
“Teri Hickel’s work to help individuals gain personal and professional skills and her dedication to kids and schools is why GOPAC is proud to endorse her for the Washington State House,” said GOPAC Chairman David Avella. “We agree with The Seattle Times when they wrote in their endorsement: ‘Hickel has the makings of a smart, energetic and pragmatic legislator who would serve the 30th Legislative District well.’ Further, her victory will put Republicans in position to earn the majority in 2016.”
As the NW News Network reports: “Washington House Democrats have been losing seats steadily in recent years and currently hold just a two-seat majority. Losing this race would bring them to the brink of losing control. Meanwhile Republicans see this election as a pivotal opportunity to pick up a seat as they endeavor to gain the majority — something they haven’t held since 1998.”
From her biography, “Teri Hickel has helped shape the city of Federal Way through her passion for leadership development, ability to form and inspire action-oriented networks, and love for community. She recently completed 15 years as the Executive Director of Advancing Leadership, an organization that transforms people into community leaders. She spent a dozen years with the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce, serving as interim CEO for over a year. Additionally, she is a 20-year member of Citizens for Federal Way Schools and was given the “Key to the City” for her outstanding volunteer work.”
